block 38 / catalyst one building

System: Staycell® HYBRID Intumescent Spray Foam Insulation System
Application: Concrete Parking Garage Ceiling
Location: Lincoln, NE
Project Size: 20,000 square feet

PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The Block 38 mixed-use building combines retail, parking and housing into the first high-rise structure built in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska in over 20 years. At 10 stories, the building provides nearly 20,000 SF of retail space on the first level, 650 parking spaces on levels two through seven, and 50 residential units on levels eight through ten.

To isolate the unconditioned parking garage areas from the retail spaces, the Staycell® HYBRID System was specified to provide highly efficient thermal insulation, moisture / condensation control and air infiltration control. The Staycell® HYBRID System application consisted of 3.5” Staycell® 275-1.8 covered with 1/2” Staycell ONE STEP® 255 intumescent spray foam insulation. Upon tenant build-out, the foam system will be covered from view by an acoustical suspended ceiling.

KEY BENEFITS:

Provides superior R-value compared to other traditional materials such as fiberglass and cellulose
Creates seamless air barrier that eliminates energy loss through air leakage
 Will not peel or flake
Provides vapor retarder that controls moisture problems
Environmentally friendly, containing no ozone depleting materials
Installed by PSI certified Authorized Applicators

The Staycell® HYBRID System was specified as it complies with the code and fire safety requirements of the International Building Code (IBC) when left exposed in occupied spaces without thermal barriers, providing the lowest installed cost of any spray foam system available.
